Seasonal Fire Jobs - Accepting Applications in January

Updated: March 8, 2013

BILLINGS - The Bureau of Land Management is now accepting applications for seasonal fire jobs for the summer of 2013. Non-fire opportunities will also be available, with applications accepted starting January 7.

Non-fire positions are in the fields of law enforcement, archaeology, recreation, biology, forestry, range, and engineering. The application period opens in January and selections will begin on February 1. Applications will be accepted through August, but candidates are encouraged to apply by January 31.

Summer fire positions include wildland firefighter, lead wildland firefighter, fire dispatcher, logistics dispatcher, and range/forestry fire lookout. Applicants are encouraged to apply before the first consideration date listed in the vacancy. Applications received after that date will be reviewed as needed.

To be eligible, an applicant must be at least 16 years old (18 years old for fire positions), a citizen of the United States, and be able to pass both a background check and physical examination. Some positions also require a valid state driver's license. Applicants for fire positions must pass a work capacity fitness test and are subject to random drug testing.

Fire and non-fire summer seasonal jobs are located all across Montana, North Dakota, and South Dakota. Visit www.USAjobs.com to learn more about job locations, salary, and to apply for BLM summer seasonal positions.
