Recent Collaboration Brings New Resource to Cancer Patients at Billings Clinic
The American Cancer Society and Billings Clinic recently collaborated to create a new position to provide cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers with free and up-to-date information and support through the American Cancer Society Patient Navigator program. Sarah Wendt began with the American Cancer Society on January 2, 2013 and is based at the Billings Clinic Cancer Center located at 801 N. 29th Street. The Billings Clinic Cancer Center, a member of the National Cancer Institute Community Cancer Centers Program (NCCCP) network, is the largest cancer treatment center in Montana and is excited to partner with the American Cancer Society in providing this additional resource for patients.
As an American Cancer Society Patient Navigator, Wendt will work collaboratively with the nine cancer nurse navigators and two oncology social workers at Billings Clinic to link those affected by cancer to information, services, and local resources.
"A cancer diagnosis can be a scary and confusing experience, and I have been trained as a patient navigator to provide support through the entire journey so the patient and family do not have to go through it alone; whether it be lodging or transportation needs, or simply someone to talk to, I am always available," reports Wendt.
People interested in visiting with Wendt can stop by the Billings Clinic Cancer Center Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM - 4:30 pm or call 406-435-7107.
